New Yorkers who want a true break from the city can be on a private boat in Punta Mita the morning after they land. Nonstop flights from JFK and Newark reach Puerto Vallarta in under six and a half hours, and the marina at La Cruz de Huanacaxtle, serving Punta Mita and the Riviera Nayarit, is a short drive from the airport. Rayando el Sol, our Tanna 47ft luxury catamaran, is reserved for your group alone, with room for up to 16 guests on day trips and 8 overnight. No crowds and no shared tables: just a five-star crew, a private chef preparing a four-course gourmet menu, and an open bar with craft cocktails and fine wine. Spend the day cruising toward the Marietas Islands, snorkeling, paddleboarding or trying the underwater sea scooters, with Starlink WiFi on board if the office calls. The 3-hour sunset cruise for up to 12 guests is ideal for proposals and anniversaries. From December through March, humpback whales often surface in Banderas Bay. It's the kind of quiet New York rarely offers.
